Posing with another neighbor in front of the moving truck...they thought the wheels were so big...
So the truck pulled out about 7:00 pm and then we loaded the Expeditions and headed for a hotel. We all collapsed, got nachos from room service...and went to sleep...even Bailey and Schnapps slept through the night as they spent the entire day barking while the movers were loading...
Woke up the next morning bright and early...needed to get gas and weigh the trucks (so we could get paid for moving the rest of our stuff). Eric notices a low tire and we check all of the tires and that one is definitely low...so we go next door to the truck tire place and they helped us out...this is Alexis waiting for them to fix the tire...
This is the culprit causing the flat tire...
About an hour later than planned, we hit the road...everyone is all strapped in...
The first day was long through Coloardo and into Kansas...we decided to stop in Wichita...finding a hotel that would accept dogs was like finding a needle in a haystick...finally found one and then went to the Marriott next door for some dinner at about 8:30 pm...of course, after dinner, Alexis had to hit the indoor pool before calling it a night.
The next day (the 4th of July) was another long drive through the rest of Kansas and then through Oklahoma...had to stop for ICEEs and Oklahoma hats...
We finally made it to the Brady's house in Belton for the 4th of July celebration, which we missed (got there too late) but they took care of us and fed us some dinner...you can see from this picture that Alexis and the dogs had matching shirts on to celebrate the 4th!
Then the Brady's took us to the fireworks on Fort Hood, which were pretty awesome...Alexis is still warming up to fireworks so she decided to watch them from the inside of their car (even though the truck door was open and you could still hear them)...
On the 5th of July, we headed down to San Antonio and stayed with a law school friend (Bob) who was so generous to open his home up to us...including the dogs...they weren't too fond of his cat but then again the cat did not appreciate them invading his territory.
As we were driving to San Antonio, I get a call from our truck driver that he is broken down in Kansas and has to wait until the shop opens on Monday morning (didn't really understand, but something about the compressor...). So we ended up staying with Bob an extra night! Alexis and Eric chillin at Bob's while Bob and I finish the Nemo puzzle she started...yes, we did complete it and were very proud of it...
So we get a call on Monday evening from our truck driver and said he is all fixed and will drive through the night...so we could meet him at the house first thing in the morning...
Spent the entire day in over 100 degree weather unloading the truck...unfortunately, we had a pretty lazy crew who thought they could just put items in the house where ever they wanted to after I had told them where to put the stuff...and the rule is that they only move it once so I was getting a bit upset with them and let them know...
Here are Alexis and I with the truck as it is about to pull out...
And after it went around the block, it got stuck on the island...here is the truck stuck and everyone standing there trying to figure out what to do...well, they took the cab off, rammed the cab into the trailer until it came off (they used rocks sitting in an empty lot to put behind the trailer tires so it wouldn't roll into the house)...needless to say, it did come off without any harm, but neighbors did call the sales office to complain that a moving truck was stuck on the island...great neighbors we are going to have...
