Sunday was the CU v. CSU Rocky Mountain Showdown. With Eric going to the University of Colorado for his fellowship, we of course had to support CU but we also know a Colorado State football player so we also supported CSU. Alexis wore a CU cheerleader outfit and mommy and daddy wore a mix - fans were a bit confused but oh well... The game was crazy...it has been awhile since we were in college. Just getting to the game, which was held a Invesco Mile High this year (the venue varies every year for this big in state rivalry), was a challenge. Once we finally parked in a $10 general parking lot, we made our way to the stadium lots to tailgate. Of course, we got lucky and found the CU cheerleaders (you may remember the picture we got at the Alamo bowl with the PSU cheerleaders). Alexis was a little overwhelmed early on in this chaos. This mixture fits well into our mix because the mascot joined our picture; however, this is not the CU mascot, it is the CSU mascot - great picture (CU cheerleader with the CSU mascot - a RAM!!). The CU mascot is a buffalo, which is the next picture. They actually let a real buffalo run across the field before the game started and before the second half - one of Alexis' favorite parts of the game. Alexis also enjoyed both bands. Daddy was also happy that they had a fly over after the National Anthem. The victor of the game was CU. We sat with the parents and family of the CSU player we know, the son of a cytotech Eric used to work with at Fort Hood. We were lucky to have seats with them under an overhang because we had a good rain during the game and we did not get wet at all. We met Anthony after the game - see last picture.
