HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

Hope all mothers out there had a great Mother's Day. I relaxed on the sofa and recovered from a Cinco de Mayo party the night before in our neighborhood. We went to Texas de Brazil, which is becoming one of our favorite restaurants...they really need to build one in San Antonio or we will have to drive all the way to Dallas. I got roses from Alexis and Eric and Alexis said she sent them to me because "I love you mommy"...how lucky am I?

Mommy and Daddy's Getaway!

Eric and I were able to get away while my parents were in town. We started at a 5-star hotel in Colorado Springs (the Broadmoor)...this was our view from our room. Heading to the Great Sand Dunes...here they are from a distance
Closer...

View of one of the largest peaks in CO...
Eric on the sand dunes... Faith on the sand dunes...

Eric climbing a dune further away...

Eric on top of the dune...

Eric sliding down the dune...
Clouds starting coming in so we started to head back...

On our way back to the car...it was an extremely windy walk and sand was pelting you from every direction, but what a sight to see!

Leaving the dunes...

View on our way to the Royal Gorge...

Royal Gorge...we walked across this bridge, and it was a bit scary as you could see and feel the bridge moving...

View from the bridge...

On the bridge...

We rode this and it was kind of scary too as it swayed...

View as we are hanging mid-air...

Me holding on tight...
We rode this train down to the bottom of the gorge...

Me at the bottom in front of the river...

We went to Cripple Creek and gambling didn't go so well...on our way out of town, we saw these clouds approaching Cripple Creek...neat views! I think it looks like a tidal wave coming in!

Nana and Pop Pop Visit to Denver!

My parents were able to join us on Friday April 17th following my dad's recovery from emergency appendix surgery. They arrived during our spring blizzard. Luckily, it was just raining when we picked them up at the airport.

Here are 3 generations dressed up for dinner: And Nana and Pop Pop with Alexis:

Nana and Alexis staying warm inside on Saturday during the blizzard.

Then they went out and made a snowman...

And the used the snowman decorations Alexis got for Christmas and had not been able to use until now....

Mommy and daddy and Alexis with probably the last snowman for a long time...

On Sunday, we ventured out into Colorado with almost 3 feet in some areas... This is the chapel at the Air Force Academy.

In front of the school...

Then we headed to Garden of the Gods...

Three generations under the rocks...

Then on the rocks...

Alexis just wanted to be upside for a picture...

Pouting about something (don't really remember...)
Then we went to Lookout Mountain in Golden and they got about 2 feet of snow...

Beautiful Colorado as we are coming down Lookout Mountain...

On Monday, we started at Hammond's Candy Factory for a tour and some sampling...everyone got a bag of their favorites... Then we headed to the Colorado Railroad Museum...
Excited to be the engineer...
Then we headed into Golden for lunch at Table Mountain Grille...I think they saw Mickey Mouse (that is how we get Alexis to look at the camera)
Then to top off lunch, we took a tour of Coors Brewery...
And had a few samples...my favorite was Blue Moon, but Nana didn't care for any of them; Pop Pop liked all of them. Alexis took this picture...in fact, she took a lot of pictures entertaining herself as she sipped on her root beer. Then mommy and daddy had a long weekend getaway and Alexis stayed with Nana and Pop Pop. They went to the Wings Over the Rockies one day...

And then to the Denver Zoo another day...
Alexis had two soccer games while we were away and Nana and Pop Pop were great soccer grandparents.

The following Monday morning, we woke up to more snow and Nana and Alexis built another mini-snowman...only Nana wanted to pose for the picture...
